Press Release: MarineMax Uses UCM’s Virtual ER to provide employees better care

New Triage Approach Provides Custom Virtual Care to Avoid Costly ER Visits

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Creative Partnership Between MarineMax and United Concierge Medicine’s Virtual ER Improves Care, Saves Money

November 7, 2019, Clearwater, FL –  MarineMax, the nation’s largest retailer of new and pre-owned boats and yachts, today announced an exciting partnership with NY-based Virtual ER provider United Concierge Medicine (UCM) that results in immediate access to emergency medicine experts while simultaneously reducing employee and health care plan costs.

UCM’s Virtual ER service is provided to the nearly 1,635 team members of MarineMax (and their families) in 17 States as an added benefit. This unique benefit allows MarineMax team members immediate and 24/7/365 access to a team of ER providers without the wait time, stress, and cost of actually visiting the ER.

MarineMax CEO and President Brett McGill said, “ We are continuously looking for ways to provide the best benefits to our team and their families. The health of our team members is a top priority. Utilizing UCM’s Virtual ER saves time and money and is the fastest way to access care. We have seen a significant percentage of our team participate in the program and it has already saved a lot of money.”

Nationally, ERs are overcrowded, often with non-emergency health care problems. That means wait times for patients seeking care is longer than it should be. The seriously ill patient must typically drive to the ER, endure long waiting times surrounded by other very sick people, and then have to drive back home after spending hours in the ER.

By offering UCM’s Virtual ER to employees, MarineMax minimizes employee stress, improves their access to care, and ultimately reduces cost for all while providing excellence in care. That’s because the emergency medicine providers can triage or treat any and all conditions and patients virtually, as well as order tests, call in prescriptions, and refer patients to specialists, all while the patient remains in comfort at home. The Virtual ER team will even follow up with the patient the following day. Medical records are stored in the cloud and sent along to the patient’s regular physician as well. A patient treated without having to visit an ER saves on average $644 per instance for the company’s health care plan and costs the employee nothing. A “win-win” for all!

United Concierge Medicine CEO Keith Algozzine said, “UCM’s partnership with MarineMax shows just how powerful our technology and care can be for a national employer. By reaching beyond the four walls of a hospital Emergency Room, we’re providing the right starting point for every patient with an acute problem, while saving money for both MarineMax and their employees.”

About UCM UCM’s Virtual ER provides 24/7/365 triage and treatment by a dedicated team of emergency medicine providers through modern digital tools, including phone, video and picture. This unique approach to emergency medicine has provided patients more immediate access to care in a customized and comfortable environment.
